Thursday, March 11, 2010 – On the way home we stopped at Wendy’s to grab a quick bite. We did not talk much and after a long period of silence my son said, “We need to name the tumor, perhaps a name of someone really annoying that we would hate to be around.” I immediately thought of a couple people who work at the same place it do, but decided it best not to suggest any of those names. He suggested to name it Dwight after Dwight Schrute from The Office. So at least for now the tumor is called Dwight. We decided to listen to a podcast and picked one by Perry Noble from NewSpring church. We arrived home about 9:15 pm. My son went down to the basement. . We had both teared up many times while at the hospital, but felt we needed to be strong for our son, however finally in the safety of our home, my wife broke down and cried as I just held her. That night I put this note on my Facebook page: Just got back from spending the day in Iowa City, where we discovered our son has a brain tumor. We do not know any more than that at this time. Please pray it is benign! We went to bed and tried to sleep.
